One of my subscribers told me a story that I want to share with you today.
I hope that it’ll help you in your quest to find your authentic business voice…
“The last time I hung out with my best friend, I realized something that I really wish I could apply to my business.
When I’m around her, I am 100% comfortable. Our conversation flows naturally, and it’s easy to share whatever is on our minds.
It also seems like I’m a lot funnier than usual, which is fascinating. At work, I’m super quiet and probably a little boring.
Maybe the biggest thing, though, is that we are so relaxed together. Neither one of us ever feels like we are trying too hard.
It’s just easy for us to be around one another…
I wish I felt that same level of comfort in my business. Sometimes, the hardest thing about being an entrepreneur is just being myself.”
This story really stuck with me…
When you’re trying to go from employee to entrepreneur, it can be a challenge to figure out which parts of your personality you really want to share with “the world.”
You’re probably used to spending the majority of your day being your perfect, corporate self, so it can be really tough to turn off that persona and just be the woman you are when you’re around your closest friends…
…and that’s exactly what I want to encourage you to do, today.
Be your “girlfriend” self in your business.
When you create content that goes on your blog, on social media, or in video, write and talk like you do when you’re around the people who love you the most.
It’s the fastest path to creating your tribe…
…and it’s also the fastest path to cash in your business, too.
So, here’s what I want to encourage you to do: The next time you create any kind of content for your business, take a deep breath, forget about who you think you’re “supposed” to be, and remember how you talk and feel when you’re spending time with your closest friends.
Write like that.
Consistently create content like THAT woman.
And watch your business transform seemingly overnight.
You’ve got this.
