The 13 Life Coaching Blogs You Shouldn’t Miss in 2024

On this page

This is the ultimate guide to the best life coaching blogs.

Because the best blogs can help you transform your life and business.

I personally share a lot of value on my own blog and often get notes by readers, like here:

And today, you’ll get the best coaching blogs to learn from. Plus, you’ll learn how to grow your own profitable coaching blog to consistently attract more clients. Read on!

We’ll cover…

What is a coaching blog?

A coaching blog is a website where you share your knowledge and expertise.

A good coaching blog is original, focused on your experience and the lessons only YOU can teach.

And guess what? The ROI on blogging is huge

Businesses with blogs get 126% more leads than businesses without them.

Blogs create evergreen organic search traffic to your website, which means that people find your business. You don’t have to find them, post daily on social media, or pay for ads.

And because you don’t pay for your website visitors, blogs can be incredibly profitable.

They’re more engaging, too. 70% of consumers say they prefer reading a blog post to seeing an ad.

But before starting your own blog, I recommend you read great coaching blogs first.

Blogs are packed with valuable information that can help you coach better and build a strong business.

Sure, you can learn a lot from coaches on social media, but blogs are different.

A well-written online article can go way more in-depth than a TikTok or tweet.

So what are the best coaching blogs to read? Let’s talk about them.

Business coaching blogs

Whether you want to escape the 9 to 5 or build a new income stream, these blogs will help you do it.

Of course, I have to start with…

LuisaZhou.com

When I started my first business, I had no blueprint. I had to figure it all out on my own.

So I built this blog to help others like me learn how to create successful coaching and online businesses from scratch.

How? I write about the things I wish I’d known when I was starting over ten years ago.

Now that I’ve built seven-figure businesses, I can share in-depth entrepreneurial guides that create results (if you do the work).

You’ll find everything from marketing your coaching services to creating high-ticket packages that sell.

Consider me your business big sister, giving you a strategic roadmap to a financially free life.

For example, this blog post on how to start a coaching business includes the type of advice few people ever include in their blog posts, along with my own experience. By just reading that one blog, you’ll be further ahead than most other new coaches.

If you want to learn more about my journey, check out this video:

MikeMichalowicz.com

Mike Michalowicz wrote one of my favorite books – “Profit First.”

The concept is simple, but powerful: To build a thriving business, pay yourself first. (So that you always keep profits first, something most business owners don’t do.)

In his personal blog, he expands on his insights. His blogs are short, easy to read, and consistent.

So if you want to learn about mastering small business profitably, Mike’s blog includes a lot of interesting ideas. This blog post on who is an A player is a great example. Mike shares his own experience and how he thinks about hiring – the type of advice that has likely taken him years to formulate.

Life coaching blogs

Business blogs give you the keys to entrepreneurial success, but what about optimizing your life? These life coaching blogs teach you the tools you need to live the life you want.

JamesClear.com

James Clear is the New York Times bestselling author of “Atomic Habits.” As an expert on making small changes to create a big impact, these blog posts show you how to build skills that make you happier, healthier, and more creative.

He goes beyond the obvious, which is one way to identify a truly valuable blog. And he backs up his advice with science and clear steps to take. This blog post on how to say no is a great example.

MarkManson.net

If you loved Mark Manson’s “The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck,” you’ll love his blog.

Mark Manson has a no-nonsense style that thousands love to read. His blog makes you think and laugh.

He covers topics like relationships, creativity, and personal values. And he does it well with advice that’s actually actionable and helpful.

His blogs mainly stand out thanks to their level of detail. Check out some of his posts, like this one on goal setting, and you’ll see how this is THE guide on the topic.

The Science of People

The Science of People is a self-improvement blog. These research-backed articles are packed with tips for communication, social skills, and growth. For example, this article that lists 57 conversation starters is an asset in itself.

TimFerriss.blog

Tim Ferriss, who wrote “The Four-Hour Workweek,” has a blog on performance, business, relationships, and productivity.

A lot of his latest blogs center around his podcast, where he interviews thought leaders and experts on life. But you can also find personal blogs that offer tons of value.

Take this blog post on fear setting – few people ever talk about that concept or with the level of detail Tim does.

Health coaching blogs

What do some of the top health blogs look like? Here are a couple of the most popular blogs that offer solid advice.

Nerd Fitness

Nerd Fitness is a blog for “nerds” (in their own words) who want to get fit. And it’s a great example of good design (on-brand with action figures and comic book fonts) to detailed blogs with examples and testimonials.

For example, this blog post with a 20-minute beginner bodyweight routine is something anyone can implement right now and get results from.

Mark’s Daily Apple

Mark’s Daily Apple is a detailed resource on keto diets and primal living. Mark is a 66-year-old marathoner and triathlete who teaches people how to live a long and healthy life. The blog gives a lot – recipes, workouts, and motivation.

Example: This guide to keto is a complete guide – once you find this blog post, you don’t need to search for other blogs on that topic.

MasalaBody.com

Want to learn all about weight loss? Weight loss coach (and my friend), Nagina Abdullah, writes blogs on the things that actually make a difference.

As well as her detailed guides, she also shares success stories from past clients, such as this one with 15 client success stories. These motivating stories share the real-life results you can get if you follow Nagina’s advice.

Executive coaching blogs

If you’re an aspiring executive coach or want to improve your leadership skills, there’s one blog you must read…

Harvard Business Review

Harvard Business Review is one of the most authoritative resources on leadership and executive education.

In fact, most of the blogs here are written by executive coaches, researchers, and other industry experts. Like this one on 28 things to ask your boss in one-on-ones by a professor, a PhD student, and a  doctoral student.

HBR provides opinion pieces and guides on business strategy that you won’t find anywhere else because of the experience and expertise that goes into writing these blogs. There’s a lot of career advice too. Speaking of…

Career coaching blogs

What does a successful career blog look like? These blogs include specific step-by-step advice to update your resume, interview strategies, and more.

The Muse

The Muse is a job-seeking site, but the advice section is one of the best hubs on the internet for career tips. Lots of the authors are career coaches who write guides on salary negotiations, how to interview, and how to get promoted. For example, this blog post on 15 things that keep people from getting hired is written by a career counselor and is incredibly helpful by offering insights that people might not even have thought about – sort of like a mentor online.

Cultivitae

Emily Liou, one of my students, is a career happiness coach and job-seeking strategist.

With years of HR experience hiring for Fortune 500 companies and career coaching experience, she knows how to stand out in the job market. For instance, this blog post on what to do if you get laid off includes details and steps, as well as a YouTube video (a great tip to include even more value and the possibility for people to learn more about your business on different platforms).

IWillTeachYouToBeRich.com

Ramit Sethi isn’t a career coach – and his blog doesn’t focus exclusively on career advice. But as he teaches how to build a rich life that includes a better-paying career, too, and especially his work from a few years ago are some of the most actionable blog posts out there.

For example this article on getting a promotion or this one on salary negotiations. He makes the blogs as easy to implement as possible, while telling lots of stories and anecdotes.

So those are the best coaching blogs you can read right now.

But while blogs can offer tons of value, they can be a highly profitable sales channel for your own business.

How? Let’s talk about it.

How do you write a coaching blog?

As you can see, blogging as a coach builds your thought leadership.

By consistently sharing your expertise and experience, you build authority and trust.

Ultimately, and when done right, this translates into a highly profitable revenue stream.

I should know.

Through blogging, I added a multiple six-figure income stream to my business within just two years.

And all thanks to having my blogs rank on search engines like Google.

Bottom line:

One great blog post has the potential to reach thousands of people at no cost to you.

Contrast that to ads. You pay for every person who comes to your website – and because they aren’t there because they decided to find your business, they are often not as interested as leads who come through your blog.

That being said, it’s not quite as simple as just writing articles and publishing them on your site.

You’ve got to know how to get found and stand out — from the hundreds of millions of active websites on the internet.

Plus, you’ve got to know how to speak to exactly what your buyers are looking for, while demonstrating your expertise and giving incredible value too.

How? Follow these three steps.

Create the right type of content

There are two sides to creating the right type of content.

  1. Content that resonates with your ideal clients
  2. Good writing

Let’s start with the ideal clients first.

Before you start your blog, brainstorm topics that speak to your audience.

We’ll talk more about this a little later. For now, get super clear on who you are writing for.

What are their pain points?

What are their burning questions?

How can you help them most with your unique knowledge and experience?

Once you have a list of topics, it’s time to write your first blog.

Great blog content is:

Easy to read
Reading a blog should be easy. Not just the words, but also the look and feel.

The layout should be clean with images and videos to break up the text.

Use a logical structure with headings. And write how you speak – it’ll resonate with your audience more.

Authoritative
Authority is your reputation within the niche you’re writing about.

It takes time to build but simple things like a clean design and high-quality, long-form content can boost your authority.

Trustworthy
81% of consumers buy from brands they trust.

The trustworthiness of your site comes from writing factual, well-researched content from an expert lens.

Link to other high-authority websites and research papers in your blog posts to build trust with the reader.

And I’ll let you in on a secret: You don’t need a huge amount of articles to get started.

You can start by blogging twice a month and slowly build up from there. (That’s what I did to grow my blog to multiple six-figures.)

Because remember, your blogs live on your website forever. That’s how they continue to drive traffic that compounds over time.

But to make those blogs work for you, you need to know a little about SEO. We’ll talk about that next.

Optimize your blog

So you’ve written your first couple of blogs.

Now you need to upload it to your coaching website and optimize it for growth.

If you don’t have a website yet, I recommend creating one on WordPress.org

It’s low-cost, customizable, and great for SEO.

As you upload and edit your blog, think about these key things:

Find target keywords with Google Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner is a free tool that helps you research keywords in your niche. Aim for low-competition keywords at first so you can start ranking.

Optimize your blog posts with Yoast

Yoast is a WordPress plugin that walks you through SEO optimization. It’ll show you how to write good meta descriptions, image alt tags, and keyword-rich headings.

Write clickable titles

Create headlines that grab the reader, but don’t forget to include your target keyword.

There’s more to SEO for coaches but these basic things are good habits to start as you create more content.

Turn blog visitors into clients

You also need to convert your website visitors into leads and clients.

Unfortunately, few people will sign up for your email list without some type of incentive. While your blogs build trust, you still need to catch their attention and ask them to sign up for your list.

Once they do, you can lead them to a webinar or even a sales page. Ultimately, that’s how you convert your blog visitors to buyers.

But how do you get them to join your email list? That’s what we’ll look at next.

How to create a coaching newsletter

An email list is one of the biggest business assets.

It’s YOUR audience – people who follow you on a platform you own.

Without having to personally talk to every subscriber (which would make your business pretty difficult to manage), you build relationships with hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of people.

And it works. Email marketing is still one of the top ways to grow your business. In fact, 89% of marketers use it as their main marketing channel.

So, how do you build a coaching newsletter?

Keep things simple.

Any email software you choose will work. But my recommendation is ActiveCampaign. It’s robust, scalable, and easy for beginners.

Next, you need a lead magnet. Often this is a free PDF or video that people will get in exchange for sharing their email addresses.

For coaching businesses, I recommend a simple PDF of around five pages.

Enough to share valuable information without it being so long people find it overwhelming.

By offering that lead magnet on your blog, you get your blog visitors to join your email list. Embed the signup form for your lead magnet into your blog posts, just like I do here:

And once your blog visitors are joining your email list, you need a simple welcome email sequence

About five emails will do. Get them up to speed with who you are and what you do.

Then, nurture that email list over time with valuable content.

Finally, let’s take a look at what you should write about on your blog to attract the right people.

The best life coach blog topics

We’ve covered how to write, optimize, and grow your blog. But what should you be writing about to attract people who will buy from you?

Here are a few ideas:

Think about frequently asked questions you get asked from clients.

Or look at the “people also ask” section of Google when you search for relevant words in your niche – these are things people search for when they search for those same things .

For example, if you offer health coaching and something people would search for is “how to quit sugar,” you’d look at the “people also ask” section in google to see what else people might be looking for related to that search.

This gives you even more ideas – things your audience might be thinking but aren’t actively asking you.

You can use these topics to write different types of blog posts such as:

List post – Listicles are great blog posts because they are quick and easy to read. For instance, create lists of helpful tools in your niche or steps people should take to reach a goal.

Example: The 25 Best Coaching Books

How to guide – How to-guides dive deep into a topic and help the reader achieve a single goal. To make this as high value and shareable as possible, cover ALL angles of the topic.

Example: How to Start a Coaching Business

Case studies – Create in-depth case studies – and make them stand out by offering the steps someone took to achieve their goal, plus their testimonial.

Example: Employee to Entrepreneur Case Study

Tutorials – Tutorial blogs are step-by-step guides on how to use a tool or practice a skill. These posts work great with a YouTube video embedded too.

Example: How to Create a Website

Reviews – You can write honest reviews about tools, software, and products in your niche to help your audience find the right choice for them.
